HAMMERFEST SUPER D RACE

Date:  Sunday, November 21.

Registration:  11 AM

Race:  12 Noon

Cost $10.00  with current Cycling BC race license.  ‘Day of Event' license available for an additional $10.00.

Description: A Super D mountain bike race can be described as a downhill cross-country race. Therefore it requires both climbing and descending skills.   A combination that is geared towards the all-around rider with DH and XC skills.  Most mountain bikes are adequate for a Super D race, but an all-mountain bike with 5” to 7” of dual suspension travel is ideal.  A heavy DH bike is definitely a disadvantage, especially for the HammerFest Super D which will involve a significant amount of climbing, both on road and trail.

There are NO shuttles.  Riders will have to cycle the full course, up and down

The course will be marked out like a cross country race. There will be a mass start of racers and consist of 2 climbs and 2 descents. You have to complete each climb in a certain amount of time.  It should be a casual climb at your own pace. When you get to the top you will be timed for the first descent and then given another time limit to make it to the top of the next climb.  A new ‘take' on Super D but nothing but fun!!!!
